What We Do

SOLIS MMC Children’s Services was formerly an integral part of Solis Trust which was established in 2005.

SOLIS MMC provide services for young people aged thirteen to seventeen years, inclusive of those with mild learning needs and physical disabilities.  We constantly strive to achieve our mission to provide solution focused care to young people. We do so through the provision of a continuum of services that integrates:

  • Emergency and planned respite services;
  • Medium and long term residential accommodation;
  • Community support programmes.

In October 2015, Solis MMC launched a new residential service catering to children with physical disabilities. This bespoke medium-long term residential centre has been specifically adapted to cater to the needs of young people with physical disabilities, whilst still maintaining a warm, homely environment. It is fully accessible by wheelchair users and provides wheelchair accessible transport. The staff team have been trained in areas such as transfers, disability awareness and epilepsy awareness, including the administration of emergency epilepsy medication. As such, a high standard of care is ensured at all times and this is done whilst promoting the rights of the young people and their inclusion within the community.

SOLIS MMC has integrated relations with Solis Trust in the North of Ireland which is a not for profit organisation providing short-term respite services for Health Trusts.

How We Do It

SOLIS MMC has a proven track record of providing high-quality, tailored and cost effective services. Such quality is reflective of the highly qualified and experienced staff encompassing those from professions such as social work, youth work and teaching, amongst many others. SOLIS MMC has commissioned the services of a consultant Psychologist who offers specialised support, guidance and services to our residential units.

SOLIS MMC staff focus on a relationship-based model where the young person is at the centre of everything we do. We promote a strengths-based approach which is reflected in individualised programmes tailored at meeting the presenting needs of the young person.

Our Future

Solis MMC are continuing to develop in response to assessed need and market demand across the four National areas. It is proposed that over the next year we will open new services in Louth, Tipperary, Cork and Donegal adding to the contingency of services.
